What does creating macramé mean to you/how does it make you feel?
Oh gosh, it makes me feel good doing macramé. I’ve done it since I left home. It is not very valued. For me macramé is my therapy. I’ve done all kinds. Now with children I have started to do simpler things. I get lost when I am creating macramé. With this, I’ve made a living. I’ve been doing it for 15 years.
Who did you learn from?
For me, working crafts is the very expression of being, leaving time and space behind; is to fill in the blank spaces that life has, to communicate your thinking and feeling.
Who will you pass it onto?
To anyone who has the intention and willingness to learn.
What have learnt from life that you feel everyone should know?
I learned to follow the path of the Warrior, a path with heart. Do not ask for miracles because life itself is a miracle. Keep your expression always grounded; because in the end the earth and existence itself gives you the tools, we are only intercessors when creating art. Always be grateful for what life gives us, even the falls which are necessary for us to get up, as well as to love and respect your work and that of others.
